Counselling gives you the opportunity to explore your problems in a safe, caring, and non-judgemental space. It can be especially helpful if you are going through a difficult time or feeling confused about what to do. Whether you're worried about the future or ashamed about something in the past. It can offer a space for you to talk about your week, or to explore the underlying causes of your thoughts, feelings, and behaviours, and work together to find a solution.

Lyon Counselling uses a person-centred approach, which is a psychotherapeutic approach where you decide what you want to talk about in each session, and we go at your own pace. You won’t be told what to do or how to feel. Instead, you will be empowered to make your own decisions based on what you feel is best for you.

NO WAITING LIST
You won’t have to wait around. Get an appointment within two weeks.

Usual availability: Monday-Thursday 09:00-19:30. Limited availability on Fridays and weekends. Choose your own day and time that works best for you. Some time slots may be unavailable due to prior bookings.

30 Minute Taster Session FREE

It is important that you get a feel for the therapy before making a commitment to it, so I offer an optional 30 minute free session, which will give you the chance to decide if this therapy is right for you as well as go through parts of the counselling contract.

Standard Rate £40

Each session lasts 1 hour. Sessions are usually held on a weekly basis, but I offer fortnightly sessions if you’d prefer, which you may want to do if you cannot afford weekly sessions. The number of sessions is open-ended. You can cancel at any point.

Student Rate £30

Living as a student can be very expensive, so I offer a discounted rate if you are currently enrolled in a university for any course or if you are a trainee counsellor/psychotherapist. These sessions are identical to the standard sessions.

All sessions are held remotely via Zoom or over the phone.

Note that you must be 18+ years old and a UK resident to access my counselling services. I cannot offer sessions to those living outside of the UK.

Meet Your New Therapist

Hi, my name is Zak Lyon. I am a proud member of the LGBTQ+ community, a Buddhist, and a level 6 person-centred psychotherapist with a first-class Bachelor’s degree in Counselling and Psychotherapy: Professional Practice from the University of Salford. I am a Registered Member of the BACP and I have over 190 hours of therapeutic experience working with a range of issues, specialising in anxiety, self-esteem, and LGBTQ+ issues, as well as working with depression, addiction, trauma, grief, OCD, and more. I founded Lyon Counselling with the goal of providing affordable and accessible therapy to people all across the UK.

Zak was brilliant and made me feel very at ease and able to open up. He was very helpful during our session and helped my on my journey to a better me.
